Hiking Waikiki Springs Nature Preserve

A lovely urban trail outside of Spokane, with several trails that wind through the Waikiki springs on their way to the Little Spokane River. This is an easy hike but wear good hiking shoes as it can get muddy with streams to ford. You may see deer and other wildlife here on the edge of the river.

Park in one of the few (3-4) parking spots and walk down the hill on the dirt road/trail. About 0.5 miles in the trees will open up offering views of the Little Spokane River basin. Hikers can choose to follow the road or branch off to the east on a narrow trail toward the spring outlets.

These are the Waikiki Springs from which the place name originates. If you choose to stay on the road, descend down to a paved road then past a few private homes. The paved road is the public access leading out to the pedestrian bridge over the Little Spokane River where multiple loop trail options are available to hikers on the land owned by the Inland Northwest land Conservancy.

Users are reminded to be courteous and respect private property. Please remain on the paved road, which is part of the Waikiki Springs Nature Preserve.
