Hiking Lower Wolf Trail

Enjoy a forest of larch, cedar, fir, and pine just outside the city of Newport. You’ll see wildflowers in the spring and summer, golden leaves in the fall, and crisp snow in the winter.

Turning right from the trailhead leads to Lower Wolf Trail 304, a lollipop half-mile loop that offers some good views of the Pend Oreille River valley.

A left turn from the trailhead takes you to Lower Wolf Trail 305, with about 0.7 mile of trails.

A spur at the southern tip goes to the town of Newport. Another spur connects to the Upper Wolf Trail system on the other side of Highway 20.
