Follow this wide path as it winds through tall, ivy-covered Douglas firs. Although it’s in the middle of the city, this trail around a developing park provides a great way to enjoy the outdoors.
Raymond E Shaffer park was made possible by the efforts of community members who wanted a park in their neighborhood. Starting in 2017, WTA partnered with the City of Vancouver to begin constructing an accessible trail that loops around the 10-acre park. The trail was completed at the beginning of 2018 and can be enjoyed by hikers of all skill levels.
You can start this loop at multiple points, depending on where you park. This loop is a pleasant walk no matter what, so pick a direction and start hiking. Circle the park, enjoying the sights and smells of the impressive trees around you and the sounds of birds and tree frogs.
WTA Pro Tip: The meadow in the middle of the park makes a great spot for a picnic or a post-hike game of catch.
