Hiking Saddleback Trail

In what is known as the West Summit Open Space, this trail climbs a canyon wall along an unnamed tributary feeding Coal Creek far below.  Side trails lead to street access and Saddleback Park is reached at it's terminus.  The canyon has ferns and fungi and second growth forest of maple and fir.  The creek can be heard but is mostly unseen.  With a good map you can make this a lollipop loop or utilizing side streets and other trails a much longer loop.
