Hiking Senator Rosa Franklin Park

Senator Rosa Franklin Park borders Franklin Elementary school in Central Tacoma. The park features a playground, a baseball field, picnic areas, a sprayground, restrooms and several paved paths. 

The park is mostly comprised of open grass fields, but there is a band of forest that runs through the park as well. A series of paved paths wind through the fields on the south end of the park, including a short loop that winds past a patch of community gardens.

Getting There

From I-5 in either direction, merge onto Highway 16 west for a little under a mile, then take exit 1B. At the end of the off-ramp, turn right onto Union Avenue for about a mile, then turn right onto South 14 Street. After 1 block this road ends at the edge of Senator Rosa Franklin Park. There is parking all along this edge of the park.
