Hiking Snohomish Riverfront Trail

This short, paved walking path parallels the north bank of the Snohomish River through downtown Snohomish. The path can be accessed from either end; however, starting from the east end at Cady Landing offers the best parking availability.

Cady Landing is a small park with a non-motorized boat launch along the Snohomish River. At low tide, there is a small section of sandy beach accessible here; otherwise, there is no river access at any point along the trail.

The mostly level, paved path heads west with several benches for enjoying the view or looking for birds and interpretive signs detailing the area's natural and human history. Toward the west end of the trail, Kla Ha Ya Park offers two picnic tables on a grassy knoll overlooking the river.

From the trail, there are multiple access points to First Street and all of historic downtown Snohomish’s antique shops, boutiques and eateries. From the east end, the first access point leads to the town’s historic gazebo via a series of steps. The second access point further west is also reached via a series of steps. At the west end of the trail, a fork is reached. Both forks lead up to First Street via an incline; the right fork is a bit steeper than the left fork.

Each year on December 21st, the city hosts an evening Winter Solstice Walk.  The entire trail is lined on both sides with luminaries to celebrate the shortest day of the year.

Extend your hike

The southern terminus of the Centennial Trail is just a couple blocks from Cady Landing, offering an opportunity to extend your hike.

Wheelchair Accessibility

A handicapped parking spot is available at Cady Landing. From Cady Landing to Kla Ha Ya Park, the trail is wheelchair friendly. West of Kla Ha Ya park to the end of the trail, there is an incline leading to First Street, which may be a challenge for unassisted wheelchair users. Along the trail, the other access points to First Street are sets of stairs and are not wheelchair accessible.
