This beautiful trail makes for an excellent overnight or longer day hike.

Beginning at the Tunnel Creek trailhead, ascend through a valley in cool green forest on tread kept in great condition by WTA volunteers. The way is steep and never in sight of Tunnel Creek until the final quarter mile.

At 1.6 miles, arrive at Hope Lake. Just beyond is the Pacific Crest Trail, and another half mile brings you to Mig Lake and some camps. Further north are the high alpine lakes of Swimming Deer, Susan Jane and Lake Josephine.

The trail to Trap Lakes continues on the Pacfic Crest Trail up and over a pass a 5,300 feet and then down a bit before starting a long, gentle climb to Trap Lake. The trail is open with outstanding views. Fall color provided by the ever present blueberry bush and the reward is wonderful view of Trap lake.

The hike has deep forest, pretty mountain lakes, fall color and plenty of good trail to walk on without watching your every step.
