Beautiful sunny clear day on the trail. Took the long sweeping way up and down (the trail off to the left / north along the road at the trail head). Early flowers gone but second round of buckwheat and pentismons blooming along with the bitter root in the rocks along the trail. Recommend taking some poles for the steeper sections on the way back down, for the small loose rocks presented some sliding challenges. Got to see 2 trains go by along the Yakamia River. Met a few other hikers and one hang glider at the top who was going to use the air streams to get back to the lower reaches. Great warm day out with enough gentle breeze to stay cool.
