Be sure you have a vehicle that can navigate the last few miles before the parking area. The road is pocked with potholes with one larger one closer in.
The three of us arrived at the trailhead by 11:00. With the heavy cloud cover in the morning, we thought the weather would be better with a later arrival. We were correct and had no rain all along the trail. We took the lower trail both ways because we enjoyed being closer to the river. The river is really rushing this time of year! Many parties were on their way down and I'd say about 50% wore masks while passing and kept a good social distance. As the previous report said, it had rained hard the night before so there was a LOT of squishy mud on the trail, but overall it was in good shape. The hike round trip was a little longer than we usually go for a day hike, but the lake view provided us with a nice reward.
