Mount Dickerman — Friday, Aug. 14, 2020

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway
Mt Dickerman
You know those pictures in hiking books that show meadows full of flowers; skies as blue as bluebirds, and mountains all around you?  Wonder where they are?  Just hike up Mt. Dickerman at the right time of the year which is right now.  For those who have read my previous reports, I am now 75 and while I’d done Dickerman before, I had not ventured on that trail for at least 15 years.  But my friends picked it for Friday which was a picture perfect day.  Blue skies and temperatures in the high sixties and low seventies.  The trail gives a whole new meaning to R&R.  No, not “rest and relaxation” but “roots and rocks!”  But what drove me was that I knew what awaited me at the top. It did not disappoint.   What was a surprise was the beauty of the flowers in the meadows. The WTA description says it all so I won’t add to that.  Just be sure to take plenty of water as there is none on the trail.  I personally think it is not the best trail for dogs simply because of the roots, rocks, and lack of water.  But maybe that is because I’m so fond of dogs.
With Dickerman on Friday, Park Butte last Sunday, and Maple Pass last Friday, I’m very content to rest and replenish today.  Here are some photos, so enjoy.
