I needed a mellow hike for my last hikeathon hurrah. My legs and body were too tired for any bada**ery, I just wanted to pick berries. We came in from Tunnel Creek. The road going in is pretty good for a forest road, there are, of course a few potholes, after all it IS a forest road. There was a Camery at the TH, so any car can get there. Also, there are a number of side roads, but stay on the main one. When you come to a main intersection, go left, you should see the TH kiosk right away. The trail is in pretty good shape, but there are still some boulders, rocks and root ladders you notice more going down. Hope is the first lake, a small lake with a couple of places to camp. There is a loo just as you get to the intersection with the PCT. Mig is another mile farther and a bigger lake. There seemed to be more camp spots here and a loo. We had lunch here, my hiking buddy snoozed while I filled my Nalgene with blue goodness. There were a rush of hikers coming thru on their way to Snoqualamie and a couple of NB hikers heading for Canada, only 2 other day hikers besides us. Once they passed, we had the lake to ourselves. Great cloudy day hike of 5 miles RT. When you come out, you cannot make a LH turn. Turn R on #2, then stay in the LH lane, there is a nice pullout WB that you can turn into to reenter the hwy once you make the L turn across traffic

I felt the same way yesterday, too- needed a much needed break so I did Brightwater in Woodinville and Bygone Byways in Stevens. Awesome Hike-a-thon this year!

This trip report made me smile! I am also feeling the same. I hiked to Melakwa Lakes last weekend and was never so happy to see my car at the end of the day in my life! That one was tough on the feet and knees. Totally worth it, of course, but I'm starting to look forward to my year 'round jaunts at Wallace Falls again, lol. These two cute lakes have been on my list for quite a while. Maybe I will make it up there this season.

I was on my way up the pass yesterday planning to do this hike and also kinda thinking about Lake Valhalla via Stevens Pass. I was pretty well committed once I went past the access road for Tunnel Creek. I got lucky and the clouds cleared just before I got near the lake. Nice way for you to celebrate your end to Hikeathon.
