The road is terrible heads up! And has a steep drop off, so not for those scared of exposure. High clearance recommended.
The parking lot is still covered in snow, including between twin lakes, but there is plenty of parking along the road above the lakes. The bathroom at the TH is open too. Many/most of the car camping spots are also melted out.
The hike is mainly snow free, except 3 patches. One of flat and easy to cross. One was steep, but is melting out very quickly, so going next to it is pretty straight forward. The last one is big and steep, but can be avoided by taking the winter loop. The trail forks at 6000ft, if you see snow above you, take the left fork which is a loose steep trail. Hands and feet might help, but it’s not too bad and there’s lots of places to rest.
The lookout was amazing. Shutters are still closed, so it’s a bit dark, but very nice. There was a goat up there who woke up with me for sunrise.
Plenty of people out, and the lookout had multiple being staying in it or camping near by.

This is a decent trail report but could you please be sure your photos are rotated properly before posting so we can look at them without having to contort the monitor 90 degrees? What use are they if they're sideways?

No matter what I try they upload sideway! I have no idea why. I’ve seen it in other trip reports too. Any ideas?
