This was my fourth visit to the Twin Lakes trailhead but the first in several years. On earlier trips, I felt the road descriptions were overdone other than for the clearance required to cross the berms. In fact, on one trip a Nissan Altima sedan was in the parking area. But now the road is much worse and deserves the strong warning it receives. The little black flies are out in force and almost completely ignored my DEET, sometimes landing just behind my applicating hand. Perhaps stale DEET? From pre-pandemic? The hike was great. Trail in very good shape with only a few slide spots in the steep hillsides. Mild smoke from the fires but views were quite clear. We saw five other people on the hike.

Larabee is the big rusty pyramid, to the left but not shown in your shot. That is The Pleiades in the left center of your pic.
