Wilderness Peak Loop, East Fork & Deceiver — Thursday, Mar. 31, 2022

Issaquah Alps > Cougar Mountain

Thank you George & Sally for posting on the Blackwater trail. It is hard to come by trails in the Issaquah Alps that I have never done before. This apparently was an official trail several decades ago but it was abandoned. There's still a sign that indicates no horses allowed.  It looks like someone has recently resurrected the trail by at least partially brushing it out.  It is still a bit rough and brushy in places though with some down logs. I did not encounter any mud. It connects the East fork Trail with the Wilderness Creek Trail and allows for some new loops.

You again?! I guess I shouldn't be surprised that you just can't stay off of closed trails but I figured you would have taken the hint about posting them here after those other reports were deleted... Let's see how long this one lasts.

There's actually no indication that this is a closed trail. Just that it has not been maintained.

Here is a link to the King County closed trails. Now everyone please stay cool, hike your own hike, pick up and pack out dog waste as well as trash, clean trails of debris and growth as you go every so often or the forest reclaims every trail, and remember orange peels are garbage not to be left as a blaze orange pile of recyclable yard waste on the trail. [Stepping off soap box now] ;)

As mentioned on a previous report, this has never been recognized as an official trail and King County has confirmed that it does pass near a Habitat Conservation Area. They are in the process of indicating it is a closed area but until then, they ask that hikers refrain from using the trail in order to give wildlife a buffer from people.
