Was out in Eastern WA for a midday event, and this little hike was a perfect stop between Richland, WA and Auburn just outside of Ellensburg to get my heart pumping, see some beautiful wildflowers, and a great view on the ridge line. I got to the trailhead right at 6pm, it’s only a mile each way but was relatively steep and took about 45 mins with some water breaks. It sprinkled a bit of rain when I got to the top, and was an overcast day with only a few peaks in the clouds. I would have loved to stay to watch a gorgeous sunset - would prioritize on a clear day! Made it back to my car just before 8 (I really relaxed and waited around at the top in case it would clear up a bit). No pass needed, the parking lot is just a pull off from the main highway that can probably fit 10-15 cars. No wildlife for me, just a few beetles and small flies at the top ridge.
