Navaho Pass, Navaho Peak — Wednesday, Jul. 24, 2024

Snoqualmie Region > Salmon La Sac/Teanaway
Navaho Peak in the Evening

Water is still plentiful at the meadow. There is still water in the spring mentioned in a previous trip report east of Navaho Pass in the woods - Take a left off trail at about .18 of a mile from the pass and beyond the campsites in the woods look for a grassy spot (visible in satellite imagery).

Since there haven’t been any trip reports in a while, the heat of the day, and lack trust my success in finding the spring, I lugged up as much water from the meadow as I could.

I settled on the beautiful spot just above the woods where the spring is located. The trade off to looking at the views from camp was THE WIND. The beautiful sounds of the ebb and flow of massive amounts of air running through the surrounding valleys became a cacophony when they met my first-time pitch of this kind of tent. Let's just say I did not sleep well. The wind made bugs a non-issue, although they were not a problem the next day when it was more still.

I hiked up to the peak to have dinner.  The wind drove me away before the sun went down. I climbed up again in the morning because I couldn't help myself. The conditions were calmer.

Saw one other party over the course of 28 hours and one pika who welcomed or, perhaps admonished, me when I returned to camp after dinner. Finished the trip with a dunk in Stafford creek just before exiting the trail.
