Big Rock Garden — Monday, Sep. 9, 2024

Puget Sound and Islands > Bellingham Area

Today I visited Big Rock Garden in Bellingham. This location is a lovely city park, tucked away in a neighborhood, surrounded by big trees and a variety of wonderful art. I spent 40 minutes wandering, looking at the art, enjoying the morning air.

The paths are primarily wide, compacted gravel with some smaller forest footpaths mixed in. The wider paths are all stroller friendly, and most are smooth enough for a wheelchair . There are some ups and down. Anywhere I found steps, there was an alternate path for wheeled transport. This is a nice place to bring children to expose them to both nature and art.

Many of the sculptures have a QR code to read more about art.

There are ADA bathrooms, complete with running water!

No dogs or bikes are allowed here. There is a place to park your bike near the entrance.
