Enjoyed a wonderful hike today along the very well-maintained Monument Creek Trail. We had the trail to ourselves as we hiked easily to the bridge across Eureka Creek …. Which was my goal. The last time I descended from Pistol Pass down to Eureka Creek the bridge was gone and we forded. The bridge was replaced in 2021.
The gentle trail travels above Lost River through some beautiful old growth Ponderosa Pines. Although Autumn colors are well off their peak, we still found the river visas colorful. The river was flowing well. Blue skies and short shirt sleeve weather made for a great day hike.
