Trip Report

Washington Park — Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024

Puget Sound and Islands > San Juan Islands

I hurt my back playing volleyball the night before, so a regular hike was a no-go (I usually carry our toddler in our Osprey). When conditions (weather or our own physicality) aren't ideal, Washington Park is our go-to. The paved road is perfect for the stroller, and the loop is the right length and elevation change to get some good exercise without overdoing it.

We did not see quite as many other walkers as usual, and only a few cars, so we had a lot of peace and quiet to ourselves. Our little guy loves the trees, water, birds and fungi, and enjoys wandering at the overlook. We always sit by the gnarly tree to eat our muffins from The Store in Anacortes (IYKYK).

I put our trash bucket in the bottom of the stroller and hung the litter picker from the handle. Nice to only find enough litter this time to fill a dog poop bag.
