It had been several years since I had last hiked Driveway Butte. Last time it was very brushy with a dozen down trees and I was alone. This time I had a buddy join me and the trail was in excellent condition being recently brushed out and down logs cleared. Ours was the only car at the trailhead and we saw no other people during the hike.
It was brisk with temps in the low 40’s when we started. I had forgotten how steep the beginning is. A cold, moistening drizzle was a constant for the day. We made good time. We took some photos on top and enjoyed a quick lunch. Clouds and rainbows came in and out. The descent was uneventful and we were happy to get back to the warm car.
