This may have been a bit of optimistic thinking with the weather window. We were hoping for a break in the rain but it didn't come. Rain all day and snowing hard higher up.
The trail is in good condition lower but around 3500' the snow cover starts. At the ridge and by the lake it got to about 5" but that is probably more now with more snow in the forecast.
Gloves to keep your hands warm and appropriate winter gear would be strongly advised. Overall a nice hike with a cool lake but weather wasn't very pleasant.

Wow! That's a pretty burly trip. I was there in later spring a few years ago and it was a muddy, tough trail to make it to the lake. Glad to see more folks heading up there; that will beat the trail in better.
