With school closed today we had some time to walk down to the park to check if the lake was still frozen. At 9:30 a.m. the park was very quiet. There were some fresh footprints in the snow, but not many visitors in the park. A City of Sammamish staff member was there clearing the walkways to the lodge and restrooms. The lake was indeed frozen. It's tempting for young explorers to want to try walking on the ice but take caution as it is quite thin and breaks easily.
The trails have some snow on them, but they are manageable. The inner loop trails in the forest had only intermittent patches of snow due to heavy canopy coverage in some areas. However, take note that the snow-covered logs are slippery if you have an enthusiastic tree climber as I did. It was a fun outing and the open meadow next to the lodge offered a great space to make snow angels.

Nice trip report and awesome reminder about why we shouldn't hike on frozen lakes!
