It was our first time hiking Dallas Ridge and Noble Knob, and we had a good time. Waze and Apple Maps tried to route us to a different trailhead for Dallas Ridge, but we opted for WTA’s directions which were almost spot on. The only difference was the trailhead was another 0.2 miles longer than the directions say after the last turn (total 2.3 instead of 2.1). The road up had some potholes, but were easily passable. We arrived around 1:00pm and found another five cars at the trailhead. It was about 70 degrees when Enumclaw was closer to 80.
The trail was in generally good condition, but there were five trees downed across the trail in the burned area. We had to crawl under, saddle over, or go off the trail to get around the fallen burned trees. But the trail was beautiful; we had incredible views of Mt. Rainier and the ranges to the north. There are also plenty of trails to connect to and a few lakes to check out if you want to extend your hike.
The only other issue was the bugs. If you’re moving, they weren’t so bad. If you stop, particularly at the Noble Knob viewpoint, tiny flies and mosquitoes swarm you.
