There have been a lot of trip reports lately so mostly echoing others.
Started at the Dalles Ridge Trailhead pretty late, about 5:00. Temps were really low for summer, in the mid-50’s. Considering most of the hike is in a burn this may not be a bad thing. In any case, drive up was easy enough and we were the only car there. Really the only other people we saw was one mountain biker and a few people at Noble Knob itself who probably used other trails for access.
Trail is in wonderful shape. Not a lot of gain, though it seems to get it all at the same time. The biggest obstacle was mosquitos. Don’t think I got bit, but if I stopped for pictures they came out. Most of them were at the saddle where all the trails seem to converge just below the summit.
Speaking of, great high reward payoff with this hike. Coming from Dalles Ridge is only a 5.4 mile round trip with a mere 750’ of climbing.
Saw tons of birds, flowers are definitely in bloom, and even saw a Pika!
