We were planning to go to Hidden Lake Lookout, but since 100% rain was expected, we decided to avoid the long drive and instead went to Thompson Lake, which we visited last year. Five of us completed the hike safely and returned.
It rained all day from start to finish, but since most of the trail was through the forest, it wasn't too bad. Thankfully, there wasn’t a single mosquito. The fallen trees that had blocked the trail when we went in May last year had all been cleared, which was nice. This time, there was no snow, so we were able to go all the way down to the lake, which was great.
Aside from one solo hiker we met at the lake, we had the entire place to ourselves. It was an 11-mile round trip with a continuous uphill climb from the beginning, so it turned out to be a good workout.
