It was wonderful to see so many people out enjoying a rare, sunny fall morning on Veterans’ Day! The falls were flowing with two cascades (they go up to 6 cascades during the rainiest times) and produced rainbows across the ravine.

The trail down to the lower viewpoint features numerous trees growing from nurse stumps, as well as some cool fall fungi. While the fall foliage is past its prime, there were still plenty of beautiful golden maples shimmering among the evergreens.

There are a few steep spots with scree where you’ll want to tread carefully. I fell on one of these spots on a drier day 5 years ago and still have a scar on my knee. Better shoes with more traction made these spots easy to navigate this time.

The trail goes past the hydro plant, which was very fun for my dear engineer husband to see.

Shout out to the Snoqualmie Ancestral Lands movement for stewarding this land and educating visitors how to recreate mindfully.
