Palouse to Cascades Trail - Lake Keechelus — Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025

Posting this to let people know that part of the Palouse to Cascades from Hyak is now reopened (and groomed for XC skiing as of today.) It is for sure open as far as Lost Lake road and according to the state parks website, as of this weekend it was scheduled to reopen all the way through to Easton Reload.

I was snowshoeing and had a limited time window so I only did a couple of miles, which went very slowly since I was basically breaking trail through 8 inches of wet, heavy snow. So I did not make it all the way to Lake Keechelus. (The ski trail was fully groomed for both skate and classic but the snowshoe trail grooming ended after about 1/8 mile!)

The access road to the sno-park was plowed and mostly clear today, just a few small patches of snow/ice but doable in any car with decent tires.

The heated restrooms are open and stocked.

A great afternoon out in the snow and so nice to get out of the rain and flooding for a day!
