Trip Report

Rattlesnake Mountain — Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
Beautiful misty fog.

Did the full traverse from Rattlesnake Lake to Snoqualmie Point today.

Lots of people up to the first Ledge, then fewer at the second and third.

Trail in good shape, a bit squishy but easy walking.

Snow started right about the first road you hit as you're going up and got slowly deeper as we approached East Peak (the high point).  Brought spikes but never needed them; the snow was soft and spikes would just gunk up with it.

Right near East Peak, there was a group camped out in a large tent and having a great time cooking some great-smelling food.  I don't think it's strictly allowed up there but they didn't seem to be hurting anything.

Snow kept up all through the clearcuts, which are recovering really nicely.  Looks like DNR replanted with a variety of trees (different firs and cedars even).  Snow ended right near the Grand Prospect viewpoint.  Easy soft surface all the way to the car from there.

Looking south towards Tacoma and Enumclaw from the clearcuts.
Easy snow walking.
