Southwest Washington > Columbia River Gorge - WA

As part of a WTA work party we hiked/worked along the Equestrian/Upper Hardy Cr trail at Beacon Rock SP. We met up at the equestrian trailhead and headed to our worksite.  Winter is a perfect time to brush out the trails.  The weather was sunny, but chilly and very windy. Fortunately, it was much less windy as we headed inland further from the Equestrian TH.

Watch out for the native blackberry vines, they seemed to reach out and grab our boots as we worked along the trail, ever insistent on tripping us.

We hit intermittent snow shortly after Don's Cutoff.  It had been pretty dry leading up to this date, so the snow that we encountered was minimal.  We  went as far as The Bridge Trail before working our way back the way we came.

The wind was still blowing pretty good when we arrived back at the TH. We were all happy to get in our respective vehicles a to get out of the wind, and hurry home.  On the drive home, the wind-driven white caps on Columbia River were something to see, especially from Cape Horn.

All in all, a solid day of trail work.
