Trail was in fine shape for snowshoeing, skiing, and also hiking with spikes. Incredibly beautiful views of rainier and the Nisqually glacier from the entire trail. I had to turn around after reaching a steep ledge that some skiers and other hikers were attempting to climb. I saw three people fall and slide down the ledge (they were all fine), so I decided to not push on.
The views from my stopping point were great. Adams, Saint Helens, and even Mount Hood were visible. I was honestly surprised by how close MSH was to Rainier.
Due to the unusual climate this year and the incredibly clear skies, it was really hot. The air temperature was +/-45° F, but it felt like 70. I hiked in snow pants and a t shirt. Sunglasses and sunscreen recommended on clear days.
