It was an overcast day and rather hazy, so the views were not as spectacular as they might have been, but it was good to get outside!
The road to the overlook has some rough spots but wasn't too bad.
I have no idea how the authors of "Best Desert Hikes" managed the hike they mapped in their book... you can't go east from the overlook without descending a very steep slope. I didn't attempt it, but just wandered around a bit. Hiked up nearby Wahatis Peak instead.
