I joined the Friends of Tubbs Hill for a conditions check hike: a tour of last year's successful trail projects, and some advance planning & prioritization for projects for the coming spring season. We enjoyed some behind-the-gates access in order to visit multiple sites in the early morning before some of us had to head back home and go to work. It was a bit foggy but still pretty, and I shockingly found my first buttercup of spring! It is MUCH too early and I'm not ready! We accessed our first section of trail from near a neighborhood cul-de-sac with a fire-access gate to the trail system on E. Tubbs Hill Drive. This one had no trailhead facilities but there was a really cool Little Free Library, and fortunately I usually keep some books to trade in the car, so I was ready! After that we moved locations to East Tubbs Park. This trailhead has ample free parking, a trailhead kiosk with a map, some neat art, and a clean outhouse. Last season's projects look fantastic, and Friends of Tubbs Hill has some great work planned for 2026!
