A short hike to a beautiful big sky roaming country area, with trails leading off in many directions. From Twisp drive about 3 miles out Twisp river road, to Frost road, follow the road to the first green gate on the right, and park near by. this short hike is perfect for families with small children, or anyone wanting an easy highland wander. Up the road is the trail to Aspen Lake. Balsam root in golden bloom, and a white shrubby bush with a fragrant scent, plus horses roaming,plus large sage, and meadow larks singing ...

We needed this report today! Ranger station in Winthrop listed this hike on its board and they were closed for the holiday.
But the lake is fenced off with no access. Wish I'd known that. We drove to Patterson Lake so our dog could swim.
