Goat Lake — Saturday, Jul. 8, 2017

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway

A beautiful weekend to backpack in to Goat Lake! The three of us where on the trail at 8:30 am and made it to the lake just before 11:00 am. Lots of people on the trail, a few coming down, most going up.

Where able to find 3 campsites next to each other and even had a view of the lake. By evening at least 25 tents, 50+ people and maybe 16 dogs. On a whole the people where pretty quiet, but a few dogs had to bark early in the morning.

This is a great spot to spend the night and a large camping area with 2 box toilets. The only problem is a lot of women don’t use them when they go pee, probably at night! Within ten feet of one of the box toilets, toilet paper on the ground, lots of places near campsites same thing! Why can’t they pick up the toilet paper and pack it out or put it in the box toilets?

Yes it will degrade in a few years, but in the mean time other people who respect these beautiful spots have to look at all this toilet paper on the ground!
