Meadowdale Beach Park - Lunds Gulch — Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area
The setting sun over Puget Sound, with Lund's Gulch creek in the foreground

Got to the trailhead at 3 pm knowing sunset is at 4:30 pm.  With all the rain we've had recently, the stream was swollen and the forest lush.   The new staircase made by WTA is awesome - about 85 perfectly sized steps - thank you, WTA volunteers !  We were pleased to find that the tunnel was passable - even with all the rain we've had recently, the creek only just brimmed over the top of the grate by about an inch in a small area near the beach.  So it was easily negotiated even with non-waterproof hiking boots.  Got to the beach at 3:40 pm and spent 10 min enjoying the view with the beginning sunset.  Back to the trailhead at 4:20 pm while there was still plenty of light.
