Heybrook Ridge — Monday, Jun. 4, 2018

Central Cascades
Parking and Trailhead just after going under RR overpass

First hike up the Heybrook Ridge trail.  Nice parking area and privy right off the main road into Index.  Take Hwy 2 East to the Index/Galina road and just after the railroad overpass look for the County Park/Heybrook Ridge sign and parking on your right.

Great trail with an easy grade.  About 1.65 miles to the overlook on the ridge. No snow, bugs, or mud on this one on Monday.  Views were obscured because of weather, but still a nice short hike.  Suitable for just about any level.

No permit or fees required for this one either. Only a few bleeding hearts in bloom with some salmon berries coming along.  Overall a nice, uncrowded trail. Saw only 2 people on the trail on a Monday mid-morning.  Can be combined with other short hike or explore along the ridge and the old logging roads to extend the trip.  Pretty sure one can traverse along the top to the Heybrook lookout about 1 mile away, but since it was drizzle and wet, we will go back to explore that possiblity on a sunnyier day.
