The weather today made our hike up Deer Ridge feel like it was spring or summer.
The drive up to the trailhead was easy going, the road has some pot holes but nothing major. Not knowing what to expect on the trail we packed our snowshoes, micro spikes, and cold weather gear. The trail had roughly 6 – 8 small trees down across the path, but nothing to difficult to manage. We didn’t encounter any snow or ice until 4,700ft in elevation, at which point we put on our spikes and followed the path other hikers made before us.
We had lunch at the top after a steep 3-hour climb, took in the view’s and headed back down in an hour and a half.
