Another conditioning hike, this time wearing my new mountaineering boots for the first time to break them in! Our weighted packs were only 15 pounds (but plenty of extra weight on my feet…). We needed sleep, so ended up cancelling our other hike plans and going for something close-by; always grateful for the Issaquah Alps! Snow covered the trail nearly the entire trip except maybe the first/last mile or so. It is quite steep heading up the Nook Trail – we put our microspikes on almost immediately; other hikers we ran into were slipping and sliding all over the place. Be careful! We ran into other hikers at the beginning and end, but had the trail to ourselves for the majority of the hike – not expected for such a beautiful day!
