Teneriffe, cedar stump trail
Most everyone that passed us today was heading to Teneriffe Falls. One man said when he was there last week, the falls were partially frozen. Well, we are not heading to the falls. At the falls junction, go up the falls trail for about a quarter mile and you’ll find the unmaintained trail to the right. There are a couple of miles of trail exploring in here as well as at least two loops. On the outer and larger loop, at a ravine is even somewhat of a view including Mailbox Peak.
I call this trail the Cedar Stump Trail because of the many cedar stumps. So, at one point, there were many huge cedars living in here. As far as I know, this area of Teneriffe has no official name of its own.
As I said, this trail is not maintained but easy to follow and it is on my Gaia hiking app. It can be a bit rough at times but overall, it's in reasonably good shape except for one serious blowdown which we went around instead of through or over. Who needs a perfectly groomed hiking trail? The best part was that we had these trails all to ourselves.
