Bay to Baker Trail — Saturday, Apr. 22, 2023

Puget Sound and Islands > Bellingham Area

For Earth Day we wanted to get out local and do some trash pick up. The Bay to Baker Trail runs through Cornwall Park. In addition to the B2B trail, the park has 1.5 miles of its own that circle the park, crosses Squalicum Creek twice (though one of the bridges is currently closed) and climbs across a high ridge. There's a small set of falls on the creek, nice old growth trees, and a few small rocky balds as well. Magnolias are blooming.  It was obvious that the trails had recently been cleared as evidenced by the piles of branches. They were also pretty much devoid of trash though we managed to find three quarters of a bag off in the brush. It also offers a playground and spray park, frisbee golf, and tennis and pickle ball courts. Our future goal is to come back and bike this entire segment of the B2B from Little Squalicum Park to Sunset Pond.
