This is one of my favorite Sunrise-side hikes for sunset color. Seems like less snow than this time last year along Sourdough Ridge, and on First and Second Burroughs. I didn't get to Third this time. Encountered a dark gray Fox and more than several Mountain Goats. Most hikers seem to turn right at the Crossroads so this area is less crowded.
Came across a group of Russian speakers which gave me a chance to practice some of my college class Russian language. They were very patient.
Made it back to the parking lot late but almost without a headlamp since the twilight was bright enough. I always bring two anyway.
Much wildlife on the roads heading back. Definitely go slow especially around blind corners. I also have a "deer whistle" on my grill which seems to help.

Stunning photos! Love the sunlit goats. I can't believe I have been going to MRNP al my life but I have never seen a fox! Had done First and Second Burroughs before, but just did Third for the first time in 2020. Spectacular.

Thanks! The fox went trotting past me as I hiked down from the Burroughs. It clearly had places to be and I wasn't moving fast enough.

Hey Mike! Beautiful photos!! Wondering how long this took you/when you started? Trying to get an idea of how to time ourselves to catch sunset this weekend.

The group goats photo is fantastic! I've never seen them lined up quite like that before.
