Trails for everyone, forever

Home Go Hiking Trip Reports Blowout Mountain, Manastash Ridge, Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) Section I - White Pass to Snoqualmie Pass
Almost done!

Dog jog 12 mi lollipop route circumnavigates Blowout Mountain with an out and back in the PCT Section I between mm35 and mm31. It includes 8 miles of the CCC100 route (happening next weekend (07/22)), an unmarked trail maintained better than the PCT, portions of Manastash Ridge trail and other singletrack ORV trails.

Approached via Tacoma Watershed Intake Creek Rd off of FR52 (designated Hwy-Legal Vehicles Only). It is chunkier than Tacoma Pass via FR4112 but passable to most vehicles with competent drivers. The driving approach offers beautiful views, berries and seldom-visited dispersed camping options near PCT junctions.

This is the second week in a row I encountered WTA workout parties at Tacoma Pass. The approaching  forest roads from I90 have mostly been reset and flattened, allowing for a rapid approach and return.

There are many side trip options along this route. It is a wonderful entry/exit choice for midsummer dispersed camping and longer backpacking trip.

Bring your own water and be aware of territorial bee populations guarding wildflowers until the die back.

Beautiful day with this man's best friend.
