My pup and I enjoyed these beautiful trails on this sunny Friday. First time! The fall colors are definitely popping. I arrived to the TH at 9am on Friday to find several spots in the lot still available. The road to the TH can be a little bumpy but if you have a low clearance vehicle, you'll still be fine taking it a little slow. There's no toilet at the TH, remember, so try to stop at a gas station on your way, instead. Lots of gross toilet paper being left behind by people going to the bathroom near the TH...not cool.
This trail is very nice, not very difficult, lots of good flat sections that aren't very rocky..great for trail running. The lake is gorgeous, very clear and perfect to take a dip in. Lots of great camping sites around the lake. The offshoot trail to Mount McCausland is very easy to miss. Very steep; we didn't go all the way to the top but still got amazing views just a bit of ways up that trail. Lovely day! When I got back to the TH around 1pm, there were cars parked all down the road.
