Creative Ways to Support WTA

I'm constantly amazed at all the ways hikers help support Washington Trails Association. They challenge themselves to hike nearly every day in August during WTA's Hike-A-Thon. They've donated proceeds from books, their photos, and artwork. Through our Get-A-Member contest, they grow the community of hikers who take part in protecting our trails.

And each year, two enterprising trail-runners create a wall calendar and donate the proceeds to WTA. On Monday, Glenn Tachiyama and Wendy Wheeler-Jacob announced they raised a total of $14,672 for WTA with their 2009 Tribute to the Trail Calendar.

Thank you Glenn and Wendy for all your hard work and generosity! And to all of you who bought calendars; the local retailers who offered the calendar for sale; and companies who underwrote the cost of printing, made a gift, or matched contributions, thank you! Your contribution is helping WTA speak up for trails, lead over 80,000 hours of volunteer work, and make resources such as this web site possible.

Dedication Pays Off

I just had to comment on this terrific effort! Glenn has been producing this calendar for several years now and each year the quality of the project and the amount of cash contributed to WTA has gone way up. We thought it was an amazing effort the first year -- to see it keep getting better is pretty phenomenal. What's more is that both Glenn and Wendy take everything upon themselves, asking very little from WTA in the process, or in return. Just that we keep maintaining trails and, of course, we're happy to oblige! Many thanks to everyone who makes this possible.
