It can be overwhelming to consider all of your options for getting outside. WTA has a little something for anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors, so here are five ways to stay connected with WTA this year.
As we are fully into 2024, perhaps you are thinking about what you want to accomplish this year, or simply what will bring more joy into your life. It can be overwhelming to consider all of your options for getting outside. WTA has a little something for anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors, so here are five ways to stay connected with WTA this year.
Let us help you with your 2024 adventures! Photo by Emily Blatter.
- Mark your calendars. Hike the State is on May 21, and Washington Trails Day is on June 22. These two events offer opportunities to get involved with WTA and the hiking community no matter where you are in Washington.
- Stay informed. Subscribe to our newsletters: Trail News, Trail Action Network and Families Go Hiking to stay up to date on the latest information, and to remain inspired to get outside all year long.
- Make a difference. Volunteer to help us build and maintain trails, whether you will be doing so for the first or 100th time. Remember that work parties happen year round, and there are some major perks, such as earning a free parking permit.(We also have candy.)
- Connect in person. Find an event to attend on our hiker events page. The list is consistently updated with new free or low cost gatherings, classes, and activities across Washington. The hiker events page is an easy one-stop way to stay connected.
- Go on a hike. Tell us about your latest adventure in a trip report. (And if you don't have one yet, create a My Backpack account. It will let you write trip reports, and once you've saved a few hikes, give you more hiking suggestions.) Your report doesn’t have to be elaborate to make a big difference. A short description of the trail conditions and road or trailhead details, especially with photos, goes a long way. And don’t forget to like or leave positive comments on trip reports you appreciate.
Remember that all of this would not be possible without the support of our members. We can’t wait to connect with you this year, and wish you all the best outdoor adventures.
