Hike-a-Thon 2022: A Recap with Miles the Marmot
Miles the Marmot here! I'm sharing the final numbers for WTA's 19th annual Hike-a-Thon. What a great year — all thanks to our hikers! Join us next year for the 20th anniversary of Hike-a-Thon.
Hi hikers, it’s Miles the Marmot! Hike-a-Thon 2022 is over, which means my favorite time of year is over, which means … I’m a sad marmot. But I’m here to report the final numbers! What a great month of community building, raising funds for trails and hiking. This was WTA’s second largest Hike-a-Thon ever, and the humans at WTA are beyond grateful for your support of trails for everyone, forever.

WTA’s 19th Annual Hike-a-Thon by the numbers:
- Hike-a-Thoners registered: 521
- Teams registered: 70
- Miles hiked: 13,640 miles
- Elevation gained: 2,347,847 feet
- Dollars raised for trails: $212,113
- Miles the Marmot sightings: Priceless

Matching Gift Challenge
First time Hike-a-Thon participants had an exciting matching gift challenge! The Walker Family Foundation generously matched up to $20,000 in gifts raised by new participants. Our incredible new participants raised $23,709 for a total of $43,709 with matching funds to support WTA.
