The WTA community is amazing: on #GivingTuesday, 1,378 donors gave over $178,000 to fund WTA's efforts to champion the trails we depend on. This is the largest #GivingTuesday in WTA history! As we watched the donations come in, we were reminded that when the WTA community unites, hikers benefit. Thank you for believing in trails!
New director of National Park Service: The Senate has confirmed Chuck F. Sams III to head the National Park Service. As a member of the Cayuse and Walla Walla tribes he will be the first Native American to serve in this role.
Celebrate New Year’s at Deception Pass: Deception Pass State Park will be hosting a weekend of events to ring in the new year. The festivities will include a campout with s’mores, family-friendly events, a puffin plunge and First Day Hikes. Spots are limited, so register soon.
Hoh River entrance closed: The Hoh River road is closed at the park entrance due to flooding. This popular area in Olympic National Park will be closed until further notice and reopened once it is safe to do so.
