If you hike with a dog, there are usually a few extra safety considerations you need to take into account before you head out on trail. Not only do you need to keep yourself safe and happy, but you need to keep your pup safe, too. Ideally, you've planned a hike well within your dog's limits. But sometimes ... they still need a ride.

Whether they were nervous about a water crossing, hurt their paw or were simply just too tired at the end of a long day, here are some photos of hikers giving a lift to their pups.

So many young hikers not having kids and instead having pets (“fur babies”). So sad. Nothing better than introducing young people to hiking, wilderness and conservation and no better way to do that than to have kids and introduce them to these things. Of course you can’t stick kids into a kennel. Millennials: kids are the course of happiness.

Way to go dog & nature lovers! No better way to follow the spirit of the on-leash rules and totally make the day of any passing dog-loving hikers, especially kids.
