Build your outdoor trip leading skills and get your students outside!

WTA's Outdoor Leadership Training program is dedicated to getting youth, age 10-18, out hiking and camping by empowering the adults who work with them at schools and community-based organizations to become outdoor trip leaders.

These experiential workshops for educators and youth workers:

  • teach you how to lead a fun and memorable camping trip for youth who have limited to no experience with hiking or camping.
  • focus on camping trip planning, gear selection, risk management, fun group activities, hiking from your campsite and Leave No Trace™ outdoor ethics.
  • connect workshop graduates to a community of other educators.
  • give you access to funding assistance and a free gear lending library.

Gear orientation information

The camping gear orientations are from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Jun. 25 or Aug. 6, 2014 at WTA's office at 705 2nd Ave, Suite 300, Seattle, WA 98104.
