Different people had a wide range of experiences with the new system. That’s why it’s important for the park to hear from you. WTA hopes park leadership will learn from the reservation pilot and center equity in future decisions.

Since the park announced this pilot reservation system in 2023, WTA has been meeting with park staff, contacting our partners who take youth and communities on outings to Mount Rainier and encouraging hikers like you to share your perspective with the park.

With one season of the pilot reservation system almost complete, now is your chance to influence how future visitors will experience Mount Rainier. The park is accepting public comment now through September 15

As you give your input, some questions you can consider providing feedback on:

  • Did you get a reservation and visit Mount Rainier National Park this summer?
  • Did you avoid Mount Rainier National Park because the timed entry reservation system posed an obstacle?
  • Did you hear about the system before your visit?
    • If not, were you turned away at a park entrance because you didn’t have an entry reservation?
    • If so, how was that experience and what did you do that day instead?
  • Do you think the reservation system prevented long waits to enter the park?
  • What else (or alternatives to the reservation system) would you like the park to do to improve your visit and address traffic congestion at park entrances?
